Tinted glass was originally used for the reduction of the sun’s glare before solar control glasses were readily available. However, they are now used mainly as a decorative finish for design projects to complement other features within the design brief. Available in 4mm, 6mm and 10mm thicknesses.
Available in Grey, Green, Bronze and
Blue.
Can be laminated together to get
thicker glass or different shades.
Thicker glasses have a darker more
reflective finish.
Thinner glasses can be used in sealed units. Whilst thicker glasses can be used for processed glass shelves, table tops and balustrades.
Fire Glass is used for instances when planning and building control require additional safety measures to be taken whilst allowing glass design aspects to be kept. Most widely used in commercial developments, the glass has the ability to be supplied as integrity only (The glass will hold fast for the certified amount of time, from 30 mins to 180 minutes) or integrity / insulation (Also allows the buildings occupants to pass the glass location for a similar period and will not be detrimental to their safety)
Integrity Only holds back smoke and flames for certified period of time, to allow occupants to escape. Integrity & Insulation allows safe passage without being overcome by the heat from the adjacent fire.
Office and school corridors and stairwells. Shopping centres where thoroughfares for escape may be glazed.
Low E (Low emissivity) coatings reduce the emission of radiant infrared
energy, thus keeping heat on the side of the glass where it originated,
while being microscopically thin they still let visible light pass through
pretty much unaltered.
Spectrum Glass stock Low E coatings on many different
products that can achieve low U values dependant on the sealed units
specification. Whether it be safety, solar control or acoustic.
- Can lower utility bills
- Creates a better environment internally
- Helps reduce greenhouse gasses by retaining heat
Most domestic or commercial buildings having new window or door frames require to have some sort of Low E glasses to achieve U values as set out by the trades governing bodies.
Spectrum glass have a large range of patterned glasses from Pilkington’s traditional designs such as Cotswold to their new contemporary designs like Linear and Cirque. We can also supply Saint Gobain’s Masterglass range with design focused patterns such as Master-Carre and Master-Soft.
All patterns allow in plenty of light
Different levels of obscurity within
both ranges
Traditional patterns are usually used in domestic locations for bathrooms and entrance doors, whereas the MasterGlass range is aimed at architects and design based projects for screens and doors
Sandblasted Glass is used where obscurity is required, and the client does not want to use patterned glasses. The glass can have a monotone blast finish all over, or clear borders and designs of all styles. The option of a low maintenance coating for single glazed products is also available. All design work for our sandblasting is completed in house.
Designs can be created in many options. Sandblasting can be added to different
glass types such as tinted glass or laminated glass.
A low maintenance coating can prevent
marking in many environments.
Sandblasting creates a contemporary obscurity which lends itself to balustrades between properties as a privacy screen, or a front door and screen with a house name or number in clear glass, gives a finishing touch.
